About the Event

Class Description

This workshop introduces students to using and handling skin safe alginate, mold making, casting with plaster, plaster cleanup and acrylic painting. At the end of this workshop, students will have a fully painted, highly realistic negative taken from their own hand. Students will participate in a step by step process of creating a lifecast, along with a painting tutorial demonstrated by our instructor over the 5 hour long course. Towards the end of the class, packing material is provided for students to get their work home safely. 

The admission fee is $175 per person, all material fees included. Class is limited to 10 students. Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is canceled.

About the Instructor

A.J. Sapala is a sculptor and fabricator living and working in NYC. Over the past decade he has served over 25 companies with expertise in sculpture, mold-making, painting, set design, and prop styling, including several years as an experienced taxidermist at The Evolution Store. Other clients include HBO, NIKE, VICE, Bednark, Puppet Kitchen, and The Sol LeWitt Foundation.
